A proposed program based on edutainment using augmented reality and its impact on developing social skills, self-esteem, and psychological happiness for children with mental disabilities and capable of learning
Abstract
This research aims to develop a program based on edutainment using augmented reality. To develop social skills, self-esteem, and psychological happiness for children with mental disabilities and capable of learning. The two researchers used the experimental method, and the research sample consisted of (45) children with mental disabilities and capable of learning. Their IQs ranged between (55-70) degrees, and their mental ages ranged between (4-7) years. They were distributed among three equal groups: two experimental groups and a control group. The first experimental group used the entertaining education program using augmented reality, while the second experimental group used the edutainment program without the augmented reality. The control group used the usual conventional method. The repeated measures method was used by applying before, after, and tracer scale after the end of the post application by three weeks; to know the impact of learning on children. The results of the research have shown that there is a significant impact of the program based on edutainment using augmented reality in developing social skills, self-esteem, and psychological happiness for children with mental disabilities and capable of learning. The results appeared There were statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the children of the two experimental groups and the control group in the post-measurement of: social skills, self-esteem, and psychological happiness. For the benefit of children of the First experimental group, The research recommended the use of augmented reality technologies and employing them in teaching children with mental disabilities and capable of learning as it works to develop their teaching methods and takes advantage of the innovations in educational technology.
