Evaluating The Higher Education Development Project Management Unit in Egyptian Universities in the Light of Its Objectives
Abstract
The present study aims to identify the degree to which the Higher Education Development Project Administration Unit in the Egyptian universities has achieved its objectives. The results of the study highlighted partial failure in Unit’s achievement of its objectives. In spite of the fact that the Unit targets all dimensions of the educational process in higher education institutes (including inputs, processes, and outputs), the Unit fell short of increasing the Egyptian university educational and administrative quality. It also failed to prepare university students for the market needs, and could not qualify Egyptian universities to compete with local and international universities. Despite the existence of this Unit in all Egyptian universities, they continued adding to the unemployment problem, that which emphasized the fact that the existence of such a Unit was made as a goal in itself, not a means for improving higher education. Accordingly, these units direly need a revision of the techniques they employ to achieve their objectives; a number of recommendations were proposed to achieve this.
