Analyzing the Content of Biology Books at the Secondary Stage in light of the Criteria of Cognitive Economy

Research Abstract:
The current research aimed to analyze the content of biology books at the secondary stage in its three grades in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of the criteria of cognitive economy. To achieve this goal, the research used the descriptive approach represented by the method of content analysis, where the research sample consisted of all the biology books for the secondary stage, which are three books: Biology Book1, Biology Book2, Biology Book3, edition of the academic year 1442 AH -2020. The research tool consisted of designing the content analysis card for the biology books for the secondary stage in light of the criteria of the cognitive economy. The research reached the following results: Determining the appropriate cognitive economy criteria to be included in the content of the biology books for the secondary stage, which are (57) criteria distributed into six main criteria, the first criterion: Aptitude for learning and development, the second criterion: Information and communication technology, the third criterion: Development of research and thinking, the fourth criterion: Life skills (cooperation and communication), the fifth criterion: Creativity and innovation, and the sixth criterion: Activities and evaluation. The study also found that the criteria for the cognitive economy are available at a moderate degree in all biology books at the secondary stage, and the biology book 2 ranked first with a ratio of (54, 1%) It is followed by the Biology Book 1 with a ratio of (52.7%), then the Biology Book 3 with a ratio of (51%) in the book's content.
