A proposed program in intellectual security issues based on webquests for developing some security values and digital literacy skills of History section students at faculty of Education
Research Abstract
The research problem was represented in the deficiency in the values of intellectual security and the digital literacy skills among students of the Faculty of Education, History section, which was evident in the absence of interest in dealing with intellectual security issues and digital culture issues within the History Teacher Preparation Program, in addition to the weakness of employing modern technologies, and the use of teaching strategies and models that are suitable for its development and advancement among the learners.
The aim of the research was to measure the effectiveness of using a proposed program in intellectual security issues based on web quests for developing intellectual security values and digital literacy skills for the History section students at Faculty of Education.
The results of the research found that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the pre and post applications of the intellectual security values test and the digital literacy skills observation sheet in favor of the post application. Which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed program in the issues of intellectual security based on web quests for developing intellectual security values and digital literacy skills for the History section students at Faculty of Education.
Accordingly, the research presented a set of recommendations, the most important of which were: developing the History Program at the College of Education so that a course on issues of intellectual security is included in the list of program courses, training faculty members to use web quests during teaching in university classes, holding intensive training courses for students to use digital literacy skills as the most important requirement of the twenty-first century.
In addition, a number of suggestions were introduce for future research: among which are; a proposed program in intellectual security issues for developing the values of coexistence with the other and the moral decision-making skills among high school students, the effectiveness of using web quests in developing research skills and designing educational lessons for students at the History section, College of Education, a training program for faculty members to use web quests in undergraduate teaching.
